A Lake District hotel resort is launching a festive fitness drive to promote health and exercise and guard against over-indulgence during the Christmas period.
The Health Club at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa on the shores of Windermere is running its '12 days of fitness' campaign over the Christmas and New Year holiday to encourage people to visit the club and get a head start on their New Year fitness resolutions.
From Christmas Day to Saturday 5 January 2019, it will open its doors to newcomers to enjoy a free Health Club Experience Day and find out more about the activities on offer. This includes free participation in any available fitness classes that day and use of all the club’s extensive facilities.
Furthermore, anyone signing up to become a member of the health club between 25 December 2018 and 5 January 2019 will benefit from a free thermal journey in The Spa at Low Wood Bay. This series of reviving thermal experiences with dry salts and gentle herbal infusions includes the indoor relaxation pool, bubble spa and relaxation lounge.
The club offers activities such as Aqua Fit, Pilates, Pound (drums), Floatfit, Boxercise, Ab Blast, Zumba, Kettlercise, Legs, Bums & Tums, Fat burn Extreme, Squash, Circuit Training and Nordic walking. If classes are not your thing, the club also has a large air conditioned gym with an extensive range of equipment.
Andy Sharples from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, who manages the Health Club at Low Wood Bay, explains: “Come January each year, we all recognise that sluggish feeling and the need to re-energise and get fit after enjoying a little too much of the Christmas fare.
“So this year we decided to encourage people to get involved in some fitness activities during the festive period, and then enjoy themselves with all the usual food and drink and trimmings, safe in the knowledge that they have burned off some calories and earned it.
“We want to encourage people to maintain a decent level of fitness with the right combination of diet and exercise. And for that added incentive, new members signing up in the offer period can sample our wonderful Thermal Spa Experience for free.”
The refurbished health club at the hotel was recently shortlisted for Health Club of the Year at the national Fitness Awards and is part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa.
It includes a spacious fitness studio with 40 cardio and resistance stations, swimming pool, hot tub, large steam room, express beauty treatment rooms, nail lounge, a new infra-red sauna and modernised male, female and family changing areas.
